OWP-0070 - Chapter Sixteen

Chapter XVI - The Khrima Khonflict

You may know the story: A man named Karn and his friends fought an evil overlord known as Khrima to save the world. Everyone knows those parts, and in fact those was mostly unimportant to the Eternals. What was however more important was the use of lost Eternal artefacts and technologies by the denizens of This Planet. A truly dangerous situation, as it could lead to the balance of power shifting. One such item was the Infinity Blade* which eventually was reforged into a completely different weapon, and eventually got passed down to Karn by his father. At the time, Eternion fought to be allowed to terminate everyone involved - finally he would have an excuse to perform what he so yearned for- but it was found to be unnecessary as the Terminal Blade is uniquely not a threat when wielded against an Eternal by a mortal.

However, it was not uniquely available: research into the Song of Finite was done by the Bards, the Terminal Blade was also just lying around to be found, and even some Eternal devices used to produce Lesser Eternals found their way into the hands of the finite**. Eternion was granted clemency to deal with the problem only to be turned away by the aforementioned Karn and his friends due to one of them knowing the Melody of Finite (which, as mentioned, is something basically any Bard knows).

This resulted in Maxima Termis deciding to take matters into their own hands, something that has almost never happens. This turned out to be an incredibly bad idea.

As it turned out, the world itself was not perfect: the laws of physics, magic, and the like were not ironclad, but instead could be exploited by some to perform deeds that should be impossible. One such error was discovered by Karn and his party. With the help of the Melody of Finite allowing Maxima Termis to be targeted at all, a combination of making Maxima Termis invisible and Undimension, a spell which normally extremely unlikely to land, had a near one hundred percent success rate. This essentially sealed Maxima Termis in a pocket dimension forever: presumably they are still there, but there is no way to know for sure.

With Termis gone, Eternion moved against the Council once more.

** However, they were thought to be merely raw materials by some, which resulted in them being forged into new forms that had different properties. See Appendix III.
